Pittsburgh COastal Energy wins Power at sea!
Wow! Pittsburgh Coastal Energy has won the Power at Sea DEVELOP Phase Prize from the American-Made Program! This marks the 16th (!) monetary contest that we've won and speaks to the volume of organizations supporting our vision to bring onboard power to every corner of the ocean 🌊 For this contest, we submitted our design and testing plans for our onboard wave energy converter to power autonomous underwater vehicles using ocean waves. Our work included projected performance capabilities based on expected operational ocean conditions. Our submission was reviewed by subject matter experts who evaluated our plans based on our concept feasibility, technical soundness, and potential for providing operational value to our customers. We are now incorporating reviewer feedback as we continue developing our prototype to deliver value to the warfighter.Thank you to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s Hydropower and Hydrokinetic Office (H2O), Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, and offices within NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration for funding the prize, and to the National Laboratory of the Rockies for administering the prize!See more at HeroX: https://lnkd.in/ebTarcEY
